The Great Website Consolidation!

I have been meaning to take the time to consolidate my web presence for a while now. Over the past decade it seems I have created several places to keep my stuff online, whether that's a community web comic site like WebComicsNation.com, Wirepop.com or Tapastic.com, or wholly my own sites like ObsoleteComic.com BarelyListening.net or GiantComic.com.

There are several problems with having your stuff spread over so many websites.
  • Your projects are spread out, so reminding your audience visiting each website of the other websites and projects you work on can seem like a constant battle.
  • You start having trouble updating and monitoring them all while still actually working on your content.
  • Once projects end there seems little need to go back to the older sites.
  • Checking back on old website dashboards is like looking into a ghost town, with only the occasional comment from people who feel like they are coming late to the party.
  • There is always something on a website that ends up needing to be updated along the way, and if you don't do the work then the website looks like crap, or just plain doesn't work!
  • If you are paying for separate domains and hosting, having multiple sites can start to be needlessly expensive, especially for those of us with a smaller budget.

So. CONSOLIDATION! This solves a lot of the problems.
  • First and foremost, all your stuff is in one place, so anyone coming to your website has easy access to all of it!
  • Having it all in one place means it's way easier to manage, and there is no need to go to depressing ghost town dashboards of your older projects.
  • Speaking of those older projects, they can now have a place right there on your main website with their own page, so they won't completely be forgotten (unless you want them to be).
  • And, last but not least, it's cheaper for those of you going the paid domain and hosting route!

Honestly, for me it's a bit of a pain doing this, because I am not exactly a professional website developer. I feel a bit out of my depth, but I am fumbling towards getting the site the way I want it.

It already has dedicated pages for my older comics like Obsolete and Barely Listening, along with my more recent project, Giant! And it has a menu that can take you to all the places on the web that I want my audience to know about, like my YouTube Channel, my Patreon campaign and my online stores! I even found a cool widget for showing progress on current projects on the side bar of my News page!

Wish me luck, and patience getting this all sorted out. I can already tell it's going to be well worth the work! Hope you all like it!
